Ministry of Transport approves a design change for No. 8 Reclaimed Land
In June 1964 (Shōwa 39), the Ministry of Transport approved Tokyo's application for a design change to the reclamation works, and the site's area and location were restated.
On 28 April 1964 Tokyo Metropolis applied to the Minister of Transport for a design change, in a letter signed by Vice-Governor Suzuki Shun'ichi on the governor's behalf. The application explained that, because of the survey techniques and methods of the time and because the boundary lines followed those of the surrounding landfills, the completed land had "distortions differing from the licence", and it stated that the change "in no way alters the intent of the original licence".
With the approval, the order's "146,190 tsubo of sea surface off Susaki-Benten-chō, Fukagawa Ward, Tokyo City" was changed to "public water surface off the east side of Fukagawa Edagawa-chō 2-chōme, Kōtō-ku, Tokyo; area 153,761.76 tsubo" (about 50.8 ha). The date of the approval is handwritten, and the day cannot be read.
